Constructive Allignment

Introduction

Constructive alignment refers to the principles used to design teaching and learning activities as well as assessment assignments that directly link learning outcomes that are typically unreachable in traditional lectures, classroom tutorials and exams. Fostering holistic, entrepreneurial and balanced graduates requires transformation and shifting minds in terms of curriculum design, learning activities and tasks used for assessment.

The education approach practiced at higher education institutions (IPTs) in Malaysia should emphasize on learning outcomes that drive knowledge, skills, abilities and attitudes as outlined in the 8 Malaysian Qualifications Framework (MOH). In line with this educational approach, assessment tasks and learning activities need to be integrated with the results that are being interpreted by the course.
